Frequent raiding took place between islands in search of heads that were used in many rituals including burials and the launching of new war canoes (Tomoko). Raids extended not only within the lagoon but as far as Guadalcanal and other islands.
Today, we can paddle our Kayaks into the heart of the head hunters’ country and experience the sacred sites. It is still possible to see the trophies from the head hunting days.
You will feel secure and safe during you time in the Lagoon and local guides will
tell you all about the old days and old ways.
